NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A crook with a craving for cigarettes made a big mistake when he broke into a convenience store in North Nashville.
Officials said a male suspect smashed through the glass door of the AM Express on Dickerson Pike around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The man grabbed a bag full of cigarettes and ran out. As he was leaving the store, police showed up on the scene. In his haste to get away, the suspect left the cigarettes and his wallet behind.
The suspect climbed a fence and escaped to a nearby property. Police tried to catch him but he got away. They brought police K-9 units out but the dogs were unable to pick up the suspect's scent.
Police now have the suspect's driver's license and other identification.
Investigators think the man may have been involved in other break-ins along Dickerson Pike.
