NASHVILLE, Tenn. – There is a plan for the old Borders book store on West End Avenue in Nashville. It's going to become the Vanderbilt University bookstore operated by Barnes & Noble.
The Borders store closed May 15 as part of the company's bankruptcy reorganization.
It will re-open this fall offering books and materials for people who aren't students as well as what would be found in a typical campus bookstore.
A café will also be housed in the store.
Since it's near Memorial Gym and other athletic venues, the store will also carry Vanderbilt apparel.
The plan for the space where the current Vandy bookstore on campus in Rand Hall is located hasn't been decided yet. The possibilities include expansion of the dining space as well as additional social and meeting space for students, but no decision is expected until after the start of the school year in August.
