ROBERTSON COUNTY, Tenn. – Three tractor trailers full of fireworks went up in flames overnight in Robertson County, and fire officials said it is suspicious.
It happened late Thursday night at the Citgo gas station on Tom Austin Highway in Coopertown.
Exclusive home video shows the fireworks shooting up straight into the air. Firefighters had to call in for backup because the fire was so intense. It took them more than an hour to put out the flames.
One of the first firefighters on the scene described what it looked like.
"It looked like the Fourth of July. I mean you pulled up, there was a lot of fire underneath and in between the trailers. Fireworks, the tops had melted off the semi-trailers when we arrived, and the fireworks were coming off, just like a fireworks show," said Shane Norris with the Pleasant View Fire Department.
The family that owns the trucks is very upset because they lost thousands of dollars of fireworks.
Investigators said a mysterious car was seen leaving the scene as the fire started. They believe it may have been arson.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
