GALLATIN, Tenn.- Police are hoping to find the crooks behind a wave of credit fraud complaints.
The Gallatin Police Department is currently investigating numerous cases of credit card fraud. Since last week, the department has taken 21 credit card fraud reports.
The Sumner County Sheriff's Office and Hendersonville Police Department are also working numerous credit card fraud reports.
No specific business has been identified in Gallatin, but investigators say they've discovered many of these cards were used at businesses in the Vol State/Greensboro area. Police say it's likely a skimming device is being utilized to get the victim's card number. Skimming devices can be attached to gas pumps, ATM machines or self check-out locations.
Police are advising people to inspect the keyboard area of gas pumps, self check-out locations and ATM machines. If the keys are difficult to punch or there appears to be a device attached to the keyboard or card reader, use a different location or pay with cash.
If you have any information that can help, call the Gallatin Police Department at 615-452-1313.
