Secret Service Joins Investigation Into ‘Skimming' Ring

Posted:

GALLATIN, Tenn. – The Secret Service has joined the investigation into the largest skimming ring that Gallatin police said they have ever seen.

Police have received nearly 100 reports of credit card fraud, all believed to be related to the case.

"Skimming" involves thieves using small devices to steal credit and debit card numbers at restaurants, gas pumps, and anywhere people swipe their cards.

Police said most of the skimming is happening near the Volunteer State campus and Greensboro Village shopping center.  But, they said they still haven't found the source.

Police said most of the victims' card information is being used to make purchases in Florida.
