Security Video Released Of Airport Incident

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Security video has been released in the case of the Clarksville mom who was arrested after protesting a full body scan at the airport for her teenage daughter.

Andrea Abbott was arrested at the Nashville International Airport earlier this month. Airport police said she became belligerent.

A spokesperson for the airport said the video shows their agents followed all procedures despite their claim that Andrea Abbott was verbally abusive.

Since her arrest, a criminal defense lawyer has taken on Abbott's case free of charge.

Her attorney, Brent Horst, said initially there was confusion over what kind of additional scans her daughter was going through. He then said an airport officer told her to shut-up and an argument ensued.

Horst said his client didn't break the law; she merely expressed her concern and opinion.

"What it comes down to is this woman objected to what was going on. Basically made her displeasure known.  She told TSA and police officers she thought it was ridiculous of what they were doing.  And then in the end she was basically arrested for giving her opinion," said Horst.

Abbott has a court date set for Monday to face a charge of disorderly conduct.
