Police: Man Fired Shots At Undercover Officer

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man has been charged with aggravated assault on a police officer for firing shots at an undercover detective who was part of a prostitution sting operation.

22-year-old Jimmy Lee Head is also charged with unlawful gun possession. Police said a detective noticed a women sitting with Head on the side of the McCann Street at 2nd Avenue South around 10 p.m. Thursday. He attempted to engage her in conversation, and Head became angered. The officer tried to drive away, and that's when Head allegedly threw a bottle at the detective's car and fired several shots in the direction of the vehicle.

The detective was not injured, and his vehicle was not hit.

Head was apprehended by nearby officers moments later. They recovered a .22 caliber pistol.

Head was held on $85,000 bond.
