New Resolution Proposed To Recognize Student Protestors

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Metro Councilman Jamie Hollin is taking another shot at recognizing some local high school students who protested the state's so-called "Don't Say Gay" bill.

Back in July, Hollin introduced a resolution to do the same thing, but two of his colleagues objected to it, which defeated it. That led to a verbal tirade that ended in the courthouse garage, and a confrontation with fellow councilman Jim Gotto.

Hollin has now proposed a "non-binding memorializing resolution" that would put the council on record as supporting the actions of those students. The resolution is slated to be taken up Tuesday.
