Titans Prepare For Preseason Opener Saturday Night

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Titans kick off the preseason Saturday night. The men in blue take on the Minnesota Vikings at LP Field.

The fans are more than ready, but so are the players.

The Mike Munchak/Matt Hasselbeck era officially kicks off against the Vikings. And while starters and veterans normally don't get much action in the first preseason game, Munchak said their workload could increase because of the longer than normal offseason layoff.

No matter who's on the field, it's the first chance for the new coaching staff to get a live, game evaluation of their team. It will be a simple game plan and Munchak added he just wants to see solid execution.

Matt Hasselbeck is a little lost in translation right now.

The 12-year veteran has been on the field for the Tennessee Titans just over a week, and offensive coordinator Chris Palmer said Hasselbeck is struggling. Not with throwing the ball or handing off, but with the words as he calls plays after spending so much time in one system.

Palmer compares the challenge to speaking English for a lifetime only to be dropped off in Spain and being forced to speak Spanish. Palmer said it's tough to pick up quickly.

The number one thing the team doesn't want to see is injuries. Every team wants to come out healthy at the end of the night.
