Man Critically Injured After Being Shot In Head In Antioch

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police said one man was seriously injured during a shooting in Antioch on Wednesday night.

It happened just before 7:30 p.m. at the Summit Apartments on Mountainhigh Drive.

Police said someone opened fire in the parking lot in front of the Summit Apartment's club house. A man in his late 20's who was picking up his children for visitation was shot in the head.

Metro police said he was rushed from the scene and right into surgery at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

The shooting happened in front of his estranged wife and their children, ages one and five. They were not injured.

Witnesses said they saw a man running into the woods right after the shooting. That sent police searching the area between Bell Road and Interstate 24.

Police searched for more than an hour, but have since called off that search.  At this point in the investigation, police do not think this was a random shooting.

Police have not made any arrests.
