NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Police have made an arrest in a shooting in Antioch that they call a planned assassination.

Police said 28-year-old Joel Andrew Holmes was a specific target when he was shot on Wednesday night in front of his kids in the parking lot of Summit Apartments on Mountainhigh Drive.  Police say the La Vergne man was shot in the head while dropping his two kids off with their mother.

Police said Holmes is in stable condition at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Police arrested 25-year-old Barry Dean Haislip, Jr. around 3:45 a.m. Thursday at his home on Eulala Drive. He was jailed on a charge of attempted criminal homicide.

Holmes had arrived at the apartment complex just after 7 p.m. Wednesday to meet his estranged wife to drop off their two children, ages five and one. Police said Haislip admitted to walking up and shooting Holmes shortly after his arrival.

Police are still investigating. They say they are not looking for another gunman, but they do believe others were involved. They say additional arrests will be made.

Haislip was held on a $100,000 bond.
