WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Purdue coach Danny Hope is positive as usual going into the season, but he has challenges ahead. They open the season against Middle Tennessee State.
Athletic Director Morgan Burke says he's not blaming Hope for last year's 4-8 finish because the team had a rash of injuries. However, he expects the Boilermakers to reach a bowl game this season.
Hope's contract runs through 2014, but his compensation package will be reviewed before the end of the year. He is guaranteed to make at least $925,000 in 2011 if he makes it through the year.
Purdue's first game is Saturday against MTSU.
Injuries already are cropping up. Quarterback Rob Henry is out with an ACL injury, and another quarterback, Robert Marve, isn't ready after tearing his ACL last year.
