Spring Hill Planning Commission Defers Vote On Crematorium

Posted: Updated:

SPRING HILL, Tenn. - The Spring Hill board of Mayor and Alderman voted unanimously Monday night to defer the vote on a building a crematorium until their October meeting.

The deferral came after a written request from Spring Hill Memorial Park's legal counsel stating that the property owner wanted to look at providing additional environmental studies.

Late last month, the Board of Mayor and Alderman was scheduled to decide, but instead, tabled a vote on the land-use designation.

The crematory was proposed by Spring Hill Memorial Park and Funeral Home. They want to build the 3,600 square foot facility on Main Street.

Many residents were against the crematory worried about emissions including vaporized mercury emitting from the building.
