Candlelight Vigil Held For Smyrna Shooting Victims
22-year-old Briana Brown
SMYRNA, Tenn. - Loved ones of a woman who was allegedly shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend gathered to pay tribute to her as well her mother who was injured in the shooting.
Family and friends of Dana Glover and Briana Brown gathered for the candlelight vigil at the home on Sky Valley Trail in Smyrna on Tuesday night where the shootings took place.
They remembered what a great mother, daughter and friend Briana was and prayed for the recovery of Glover, who has been in critical condition since the shooting.
Police said Brown's ex and father of one of her children, 39-year-old Charles Godspower came to the home armed with a gun and shot and killed Briana, then turned the gun on her mother. Police believe he was jealous and upset that Brown broke off their relationship.
Friends said they want to remember the beautiful parts of Brown's 22-year-old life.
How good of a person she was. And you know, just, it is not many people that should have bad things to say about her. I doubt. You really don't hear many bad things about her because that's just the type of person she was. She was a very good person," said friend Raven Frazier.
Police said Brown had filed an assault report with Smyrna Police against Godspower on June 21. She was also directed to the Domestic Violence Program of Rutherford County where she obtained an Order of Protection against Godspower.
He was charged with especially aggravated kidnapping, first degree murder, attempted first degree murder and violation of order of protection. He was held on a $1 million bond.
