83-Year-Old Achieves Bucket List With Hot Air Balloon Ride

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – An 83-year-old woman took the ride of her life in a hot air balloon on Thursday, achieving her bucket list wish.

Jean Sensing sat and waited as she prepared to take on what some would say is a daring dream for an 83-year-old.

"Why be scared?" asked Sensing.

For nearly 20 years, Sensing has wanted to take a ride in a hot air balloon and with the help Middle Tennessee Hot Air Adventure, her dream finally came true.

"To be the person that gives her that fulfillment makes you sleep a little better tonight," said Logan Bedford.

After the preps were done and some help from her family, Sensing took her seat inside the balloon basket.

This ride was all part of Hillcrest Health Care Center's Lucky Stars program, helping seniors achieve wishes on their bucket list.

Nearly two decades waiting, a pull from a rope sent Sensing off into the air as she waved to her family and friends.

In a matter of seconds, Sky 5 HD helped us see what Sensing has waited so long to experience.

The sights of the rolling hills of Tennessee, the landmarks and the skyline of Music City was what Sensing saw in every direction she looked.

During a 30 minute ride Sensing saw so much, even had time to wave at the Sky5 HD camera.

It's all a dream that came true, but as the saying goes - all good things come to an end.

"Is this the best things you've ever done?"Connie Dye who works with Lucky Stars, asked.

Sensing said it was.

Dye asked, "Was this the most fun you have ever had?"

"Yeah just wasn't long enough," Sensing smiled and said with a laugh.

While the ride of her life might not have lasted as long as she wanted, the memory of her up in the sky is a vision that dreams not only come true, but when they do it's a beauty that will last forever.

"Oh yeah and the sunset, it was pretty. Don't you want to go?" she asked.

Hillcrest Healthcare Center held a yard sale to help raise money to help more seniors live out their wishes.

In all, they raised nearly $2,000.
