Preds Win First Season Game

COLUMBUS, OH – The Nashville Predators won their first game of the season Friday night, 3 to 2 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Ryan Suter scored the first goal during the power play of the first period. During the second period, Craig Smith scored his first NHL career goal to make the score 2 to 1.

Another rookie, Matt Halischuk scored on an assist from Cal O'Reilly 39 seconds in the third period bringing the score to 3 to 1.

Pekka Rinne had 29 saves, many of highlight-reel quality while the Blue Jackets were frantically scrambling to catch up before a capacity crowd of 18,247.

The Preds held on, and won the game 3 to 2.
