Dimitri Pippos advanced to the finals of his flight at the Austin Peay Fall
Invitational.
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - SophomoreDimitri Pippos won his third consecutive match in
straight sets to advance to the finals of his flight on Sunday at the Austin
Peay Fall Invitational.
Pippos defeated Austin Peay's Aleksas Tverijonas, 7-5, 6-2,
in the semifinals before facing Lipscomb's Daniel Hernandez in the finals. The
Queensland, Australia, native fell to Hernandez, 6-3, 6-4.
"Dimitri came out aggressively in his early match, and
it paid off," head coach Jimmy Borendame said. "He really hit his
stride this weekend, and despite falling in the finals, showed his ability in
winning six straight sets."
Pippos and the Blue Raiders break from action this weekend
before heading to the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships in Knoxville,
Tenn., Oct. 20-24.
