FRANKLIN, Tenn.-There's a
new political movement in the state branding itself as force for the working
person.
The "Redneck
Party" was in Franklin Tuesday night waiting for the arrival of Wisconsin Governor
Scott Walker. He was the keynote
speaker at the Williamson County Republican party's annual Reagan Day
Dinner.
A spokesperson for the
Redneck Party says Walker's brand of the union busting isn't welcome in the
south. They claim Walker, along with Republican members in the state
legislature, pass laws crafted and prepared by a group of corporations set on
undermining the working class.
"That's why all over the
country there are all these similar laws coming up. And the way that we like to say it, it is the
American Legislative Exchange. Council exchanges government by the people for
government by the corporations," said Peter Burr, Williamson Co.
Democratic Party.
The Redneck Party says its
main goal is supporting workers, especially rural, manual labor, teachers and
unions.
