Alzheimer's Patient Puts On Piano Concert At Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A woman suffering from Alzheimer's and losing her eyesight fulfilled a life-long dream of performing classical piano music at a concert hall in front of a live audience.

Maria Malone, age 82, has played the piano for most of her life. She can still play by memory, despite losing her eyesight to macular degeneration, and then being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.

Brookdale Senior Living and Jeremy Bloom's Wish of a Lifetime teamed up to make Wednesday night's special concert possible.

The Brazil native always dreamed of performing her classical favorites in a U.S. concert hall.

"It's just incredible. I never dreamed that somebody would do something that nice for me. It has been fascinating, and I know I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight," said Malone.

The concert took place at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music.
