Murfreesboro Officer Fired After Investigation

MUFREESBORO, Tenn. - A Murfreesboro Police Officer has been fired after an internal investigation found he inappropriately shot at a burglary suspect.

Police officials confirmed Thursday that Finess Brown was terminated for his response a home burglary that took place earlier this year.

In March of 2011, Brown responded to a burglary call at the Dana Downs apartment complex in Murfreesboro. That's where he spotted a man carrying a flat-screen television from the apartment.

Brown claimed that he got into a struggle with the suspect and fired his gun in self-defense.

Investigators said, however, that a spent shell-casing at the scene indicated Brown fired a shot at the burglar more than a hundred feet from where the fight took place

A witness also told investigators the burglar was running away from Brown when he fired the shot.

Brown has also investigated by the Murfreesboro Police for allegations in 2009 following allegations he assaulted his wife.
