MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - A woman charged with killing a Middle Tennessee State University basketball player who was her roommate has been unable to reach a plea agree with prosecutors.
Shanterrica Madden has said she acted in self-defense when she stabbed Tina Stewart to death during a fight on March 2.
Madden is charged with first-degree murder. Her attorney, Joe Brandon Jr., has said he does not believe prosecution can make a case for that charge.
During a brief hearing on Friday, attorneys agreed to continue moving toward a January 31 trial. A motions hearing is set for November 28.
