NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Occupy Nashville protesters are now reacting to the emails obtained by NewsChannel 5 Investigates detailing how the decision was made to raid the Occupy Nashville camp.
"My question in response would be : ‘Why are they messing with such a peaceful protest in such a warlike manner. Why declare war on peace?'" asked one of the protesters overnight.
He was speaking on their streaming Internet feed from the camp.
The emails released Wednesday show that not only did the Department of Safety deploy all those troopers that were seen arresting the occupiers, but they also had undercover officers reporting back to the department about everything the occupiers did.
The emails also indicated that the state knew before the second nights of arrests that none of the charges were likely to hold up in front of a judge.
