NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A woman was arrested for armed robbery after pharmacy employees stalled her long enough for police to arrive.
The incident happened at the Rite Aid on Robinson Road and Martingale Drive in the Old Hickory/Lakewood area just before 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Officials said the woman walked into the store and back to the pharmacy counter. She allegedly waiting for all the customers to leave, then brandished a loaded pistol and demanded Oxycontin.
The pharmacist complied with the woman's demands, but in the process – another employee hit the panic button and stalled getting the drug while police responded to the scene.
"Patrol units, again, were in the area, and were here in a matter of seconds, just in time for her to still be inside the location with the pills and the weapon in her possession," said Metro Police detective Anthony Wilfert.
By the time the woman walked out the door, police were in the parking lot and made the arrest.
Her identity was not released. They towed her car out of this Rite Aid parking lot,
No one was injured.
