NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Police said that no charges have been placed in fatal shooting in south Nashville where a store owner shot and killed a man who allegedly tried to rob him.
It happened around midnight at the Kwik Tobacco Market on Millwood Drive and Murfreesboro Pike.
Police said the store owner,Sm Mazahir Hamadani, 59, told them a man barged into the store, jumped over the counter and pulled out a knife. The store owner pulled out a gun, and shot the man in the chest.
The 25-year-old suspect, William D. England, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.
The market owner told police that he had been robbed before, and that is why he had a gun.
There were no witnesses, and the surveillance system was not operational.
Police said that after the shooting Hamadani telephoned 911 and rendered aid to England prior to the arrival of paramedics.
Officials interviewed Hamadani but said no charges will be filed since he acted in self-defense.
