MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain will be making a visit to Middle Tennessee State University on Thursday.
Cain will speak from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the State Farm Lecture Room at the Business and Aerospace Building at MTSU. The event is free and open for the campus community.
While Cain is scheduled to talk about entrepreneurship, many hope he will discuss his run for president at the event.
Once a GOP frontrunner, he is now battling allegations of infidelity and the fate of his campaign may be in the hands of his wife.
"I've been campaigning all week, I haven't had an opportunity to sit down with her and walk through this with my wife and family," Cain said.
The former business executive is facing a woman's allegation of a 13-year extramarital affair. He says a heavy emotional toll on his family -- particularly his wife, Gloria, whom he has not seen since the charge surfaced -- could force him to call it quits.
Cain's visit comes on the heels of this latest allegation of inappropriate sexual behavior, and a spokesman for MTSU said they are well aware of the buzz surrounding this appearance and the controversy that could come with it.
"We're hoping, in spite of the fact that he's declared his candidacy, and a number of other things have come down the pipe; We're hoping to preserve that as a student focused, educational event," said Tom Tozer with MTSU.
Cain said he'll decide in the next "few days" whether to abandon his White House bid, but not before he meets with his wife on Friday.
