Couple Arrested In Series Of Bank Robberies

Posted: Updated:

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (AP) -- A couple are held in a southern Kentucky jail in the "bad hair bandit" bank robberies.

Jason and Tasha Fox were held Monday on robbery charges at the Whitley County Jail, where records don't include information about any attorneys for the couple.

Police said 30-year-old Jason Fox has confessed to seven bank robberies in Kentucky and Tennessee, WKYT-TV in Lexington reported.

Barbourville Detective Steve Owens told WATE-TV in Knoxville that police found the couple recently bought a home and furnishings. About $90,000 was allegedly taken.

Twenty-seven-year-old Tasha Fox told WKYT she threw a bag containing a BB pistol off a bridge into a river but didn't say where.

The "bad hair bandit" nickname came from the fact that the bank robber wore a number of ill-fitting wigs as disguises.
