Titans Place Anthony Smith On IR Due To Injury

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Tennessee Titans have placed safety Anthony Smith on injured reserve with an injured groin and promoted safety Robert Johnson from the practice squad.

Smith was hurt in last week's 22-17 loss to New Orleans and becomes the second player placed on injured reserve in as many days by Tennessee (7-6). Linebacker Barrett Ruud was placed on injured reserve.

Johnson was a fifth-round pick last year out of Utah and on the active roster last year without playing in a game.

The Titans also added cornerback Terrence Wheatley to the practice squad. A second-round pick out of Colorado by New England in 2008, he spent two seasons with the Patriots.

Tennessee plays at winless Indianapolis on Sunday.
