STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi State will host Middle Tennessee State on October 20 in a non-conference football game at Davis Wade Stadium.

The game finalizes next fall's schedule, which also includes non-conference home games against Jackson State and South Alabama.

The Bulldogs will play on the road against Troy.

Mississippi State athletic director Scott Stricklin confirmed the school will pay Middle Tennessee State $930,000 to come to Starkville for the one-game deal. Mississippi State's three non-conference home games ensure a seven-game home schedule for just the seventh time in school history.
