
From VUCommodores.comNASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - John Jenkins matched a career-high with seven 3-pointers and scored 27 points to lead Vanderbilt to an 89-58 victory over Lafayette Wednesday night.
The Commodores (8-4) won back-to-back games for the first time in nearly a month and pounced on the Leopards (4-7) early. Vanderbilt made its first six baskets, jumped out to a 14-2 lead and was never seriously threatened.
The Leopards, playing for the first time in 10 days, didn't get into an offensive rhythm, especially from long range. They made 5 of 18 3-pointers despite entering the game tied for fifth in the country in 3-pointers made per game (9.8).
Jenkins, the Southeastern Conference's leading scorer with 20 points a game, made 9 of 12 shots. Jeffery Taylor added 16 points and Lance Goulbourne 15. Brad Tinsley tied a career-best with 10 assists.
The Leopards, who've lost five of six, got 16 points from Seth Hinrichs.
