HAMPSHIRE, Tenn. – The unincorporated town of Hampshire, Tennessee in Maury County has created a new tradition that keeps tourists coming during the holiday season.
If you blink, you might just miss Hampshire. Local business owners said that would be a shame, considering the great lengths they went to in order to attract tourists. For the fourth year in a row, there's one that's kept people coming back.
Not a single snowflake in the town this Christmas. So, the Amber Falls Winery brought to life what many had hoped for but never saw.
It's called Snow Village, made up of 400 different model homes, people, and cars.
"People get to come see something that most people have never seen anything like this before," says winery manager Gabe Zaunbrecher.
The display sits directly next to the winery's tasting room.
"It's definitely a tourist attraction. We have people that come up from Alabama, down from Kentucky, Georgia, and some of them specifically this time of year just to see what we've done with the Snow Village," saus Zaunbrecher.
Locals say it's just another way to bring people to the little town of Hampshire, that might otherwise go unnoticed.
"I've discovered you never do know what you're going to find out in the middle of nowhere," says Zaunbrecher.
The display is open through January and is free to the public.
Amber Falls Winery isn't the only local attraction in Hampshire. Several other wineries have recently cropped up in the area.
