Families Hope For Leads In Cold Case Murders

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- There are thousands of unsolved murders in Tennessee and while the cases may go cold loved ones never stop hoping the killers will be caught.

Five Nashville families, tied by tragedy, are hopeful someone knows something about their loved one's murder. Joining with Partners In The Struggle Wednesday night, the families sought the public's help to find clues police need to solve their cases.

One cold case is that of 38-year old Cheryl Denise Phillips, who was shot dead at her daughter's graduation party back in May 2006. Phillips was hit by a stray bullet that killed her instantly. Police have yet to locate the person who fired that fatal shot.

On Wednesday the five local families touched by these tragedies were reassured and updated by two Metro cold case detectives. Sergeant Postiglione said every legitimate lead is followed up on.

"Typically we do get information, sometimes good information as a result of group meeting like this," said Postiglione

Postiglione said just because a homicide case is old in no way its turned cold.

Families hope by continuing to hold these meetings their families cases will get more attention and the cases will be solved much faster.

The five unsolved cases in Metro discussed Wednesday are:

  • Cheryl Phillips, killed May 23, 2006
  • Eric Fletcher, killed August 5, 2006
  • Michael Walker Jr., killed November 21, 2010
  • Brian Amos Jr., killed October 9, 2011
  • Ed Wisdom Jr., October 28, 2011
