Lebanon Proposes Neighborhood IDs

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- One mid-state neighborhood troubled by crime said they are considering requiring everyone there to have a photo ID.

It's an idea being discussed for Lebanon's Inman Court and Upton Heights public housing developments. The proposal, drawn up by the Lebanon Housing Authority, would require anyone over the age of 13 to get an ID, and visitors would require a pass.

Community leaders said they want to make sure the people who are in their community are supposed to be there. Since 1998, 40% of Lebanon homicides have occurred in public housing.

Under the proposal, residents 13 and older would need a photo ID, and visitors would require a pass.
