
From GoBlueRaiders.comMURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - Raymond Cintron came off the bench to score 17 points and Middle Tennessee used a huge advantage at the free throw line to defeat Louisiana-Lafayette 65-53 Saturday night in a Sun Belt Conference game.
Middle Tennessee (15-2, 4-0) had better balanced scoring than the Ragin' Cajuns (8-9, 2-1). Marcos Knight scored 16 points and the guard also took nine rebounds. LaRon Dendy and J.T. Sulton had 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Cintron was just 2 for 9 from the field and 1 for 7 on 3-pointers. As a team, the Blue Raiders were 1 of 11 from 3-point range.
But Cintron was 12 for 12 from the foul line, where Middle Tennessee outscored Louisiana-Lafayette 28-12. The Blue Raiders hit 28 of 37 free throw attempts, while the Ragin' Cajuns took just 18 foul shots and made 12.
Josh Brown led Louisiana-Lafayette with 17 points and Kadeem Coleby added 10.
