LEBANON, Tenn. - Fast food may be bad for you, but it may have saved a Sonic manager's life, after he was held up at gunpoint.
The robbery happened at the Sonic Drive-In on Murfreesboro Road in Lebanon. Investigators said the manager and another employee had just closed for the night, when a man approached them in the parking lot and shot at them.
That's when the manager threw a bag of grease at the suspect, who then grabbed the bag, and took off.
"I would say they were probably really surprised, because they left it at the scene beside the vehicle, so I suspect they were really surprised when they opened that bag and there was grease in there," said Chief Scott Bowen of Lebanon Police.
The manager of the Sonic was shot in the leg during the robbery, but was expected to make a full recovery.
Lebanon police are still searching for the two suspects involved, but said they've gotten some strong leads from the pair's getaway car which they ditched just a few miles away.
