NASHVILLE, Tenn.- After several hours of snow across the mid-state and Kentucky Thursday afternoon, drivers found slick roads and black ice on their evening commute home.
Police in Murfreesboro reported that nearly all the overpasses were icy and dangerous. Several wrecks were reported on the Medical Center Boulevard overpass. The Thompson Lane Bridge was shut down around 7 p.m. due to weather conditions.
No roads were closed in Clarksville but police reported that 101st Boulevard and several roads on the north side of town were slick with ice. Traffic was moving slowly and cautiously throughout town.Portions
of US Hwy 79 in Stewart County and the west side of Montgomery County were reported to be mostly covered with snow.
According to police in Mt. Juliet, several weather-related crashes were reported Thursday night.
Franklin Police said that roadways were slippery, but had only caused two wrecks due to a very low traffic volume.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said that all the highways and interstates in Nashville were passable, though there were patches of ice and snow reported.
