NASHVILLE, Tenn. - He died in a fight to bring people of all races together and two local churches joined in celebration of a dream.
Sunday afternoon congregations from Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church and First Unitarian Universalist Church gathered to honor the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The choirs sang jointly at the service, with a sermon titled, "Better Race Relations for Dummies."
For more than 20 years, the two congregations have worked together to keep Dr. King's dream of equality alive.
"40 years ago, people couldn't do this safely," said Enoch Fuzz of Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church.
Dr. King was assassinated in Memphis in April of 1968. Monday is the national holiday honoring the Civil Rights leader.
