Strong Line Of Thunderstorms Pushes Through Mid-State

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A line of strong thunderstorms moved through Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky Tuesday afternoon, prompting warnings in some areas. Heavy downpours and gusty winds from 40 to 50 miles per hour were reported.

There were no reports of tornado touchdowns in Tennessee, but at least one touchdown was reported in south Central Kentucky.

The Nashville Electric Service reported that approximately 960 customers were without power for several hours due to the storms. Outages were in the Belle Meade, Berry Hill, and Lakewood areas.

In Rutherford County, authorities said that the storms caused damage along the Rutherford and Wilson County line, near the Lamar Hill Area. There were reports of downed trees, power lines and some damage to homes.

 A significant weather advisory was issued for Clay, Davidson, DeKalb, Hickman, Jackson, Lewis, Macon, Maury, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Rutherford, Smith, Sumner, Trousdale, Williamson, and Wilson counties.

The tornado warning was issued for southern Allen and southeastern Simpson counties in south central Kentucky expired at 12:45 p.m., along with a severe thunderstorm warning for northwestern Williamson, Dickson, southern Cheatham, northern Hickman, east central Humphreys, and north central Maury Counties.
