Jake Owen Has Surgery On Broken Collarbone

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Country artist Jake Owen underwent surgery Tuesday to repair his collarbone, which he broke while snowboarding in Colorado.

Owen was in Crested Butte, Colorado for the BMI Songwriter's Festival when he hit a 17-inch ice block while snowboarding, fell, and broke his collarbone on January 13..

After being rushed to the ER, Owen tweeted, "Just broke my collarbone. Guess I charged this mountain a little too hard."

He flew back to Nashville, and saw an orthopedic surgeon who recommended immediate surgery.

Jake was forced to postpone his January shows so that he can recover. A statement said his progress during rehab will determine when he can perform again.

Shows scheduled for January 18 and 19 at Joe's Bar in Chicago, Illinois have already been rescheduled for April 18 and 19. The shows originally scheduled for January 20 and 21 at Island Resort & Casino in Harris, Michigan have been rescheduled for April 20 and 21.

Jake said a wakeboarding accident in college that required reconstructive shoulder surgery and rehab was when he started playing guitar and writing songs.
