RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. – The National Weather Service team surveying damage has confirmed a tornado touched down in Rutherford County on Tuesday afternoon.
The team said it indicated an EF-0 tornado touched down along North Lamar Road, about four miles northeast of Smyrna. Officials said it started at the Lamar Hill Access Ramp at Percy Priest Lake.
Its path was 1.7 miles long and 125 yards wide at its widest point.
The Tuesday tornado had relatively low wind speeds of between 80 and 85 miles per hour. That did not stop it from overturning a recreational vehicle, uprooting trees and seriously damaging the roof of a house.
No injuries or deaths were reported.

A line of strong thunderstorms moved through Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky Tuesday afternoon, prompting warnings in some areas. Heavy downpours and gusty winds from 40 to 50 miles per hour were reported.
