SEWANEE, Tenn. (AP) -- Sewanee: University of the South has frozen tuition.
Officials of the private Episcopal Church-affiliated university said Tuesday the practical result will be that seniors in the class of 2016 will pay the same tuition as when they enter as freshmen this fall.
The school's trustees had decided in November that students returning next year will pay the same $41,518 in yearly tuition and fees as they currently pay.
Incoming students in the fall will pay about $3,000 more annually, but the rate will remain level over four years.
A spokesman for the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities said Sewanee's decision is bold.
