Board Considers Increasing Kindergartners School Day

Posted: Updated:

SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn.- Sumner County kindergartners could spend more time in the classroom next year under a proposal being weighed by the County School Board.

Currently kindergarten students in Sumner County are only required to be in school for four hours. Under the new proposal their school day would be seven hours long, the same as all other students.

The measure has already passed a first reading at a meeting held on January 17th, and is expected to pass a second. If that happens, it would go into effect starting next school year.
