MURFREESBORO, Tenn.- Murfreesboro City Schools officials have announced plans to move forward with a new elementary school.

The district is expected to send a formal request to the city council for the $2.5 million in building projects that would include the new school.

While the name of the new school has not yet been decided, officials said that it will be built in the western part of the city and will serve around 800 students.

Officials hope to have the school complete in the summer of 2014.
