Belmont ‘Tops Out’ New Law School Building

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- After more than a year of planning, faculty and students at Belmont University celebrated the construction progress of its newest building, The Randall and Sadie Baskin Center.

When the building is completed , the $32 million facility to Belmont's College of Law and will include a five-level underground parking garage. The University held a ‘Topping Out' ceremony Monday to give students to get their very first look at the structure, something they've been looking forward to for quite some time.

"From breaking ground on this building to hiring our first faculty members to welcoming our charter class, Belmont's College of Law has already achieved some incredible milestones. Today we celebrate another as we ‘top out' this building which will soon house Middle Tennessee's next generation of great legal minds and community leaders," said College of Law founding Dean Jeff Kinsler

The new building will be located at Acklen Avenue and 15th Avenue and was designed and built by locally-owned companies Earl Swensson Associates and R.C. Mathews.

"They believed there was something out there and they believed they could get there. Part of that promise was that we would build this building and all we had was a piece of paper with a drawing on it. They believed us," said Dr. Bob Fisher, President of Belmont University,

The 71,000 square foot Baskin Center is on schedule to open in July.
