NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police said a pedestrian who was struck and killed on Interstate 40 in downtown Nashville late Tuesday night purposefully walked onto the interstate.
It happened around 11:40 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near Hermitage Avenue. Police identified the victim as 42-year-old Dorse Carroll. Police said Carroll had made statements before the crash that he was going to walk onto the interstate in an act of suicide.
He was struck by the driver of a Chevrolet Beretta, which then collided with a Chevy Malibu. Carroll died on the scene.
Police said he had written his social security number on his arm.
No one else was hurt.
