SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. – All lanes of Highway 41A North in Bedford County were blocked for several hours after a semi truck overturned.
The crash happened around 7 a.m. Friday near Old Unionville Road in Shelbyville. Officials said the driver lost control and flipped the truck overturned, taking out the guard rail on the bridge.
The truck
was hauling 15,000 pounds of frozen food.
No injuries were reporte, but crews did have to contain a fuel leak.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation sent workers out to inspect the structural integrity of the bridge, where part of the concrete structure was destroyed.
Officials said the damage turned out to be mostly cosmetic.
Lanes were blocked in both directions for several hours while crews worked to clear the scene and assess the damage to the bridge. Traffic was diverted to alternate routes.
