Armed Robbery Suspects Fire On Police Officers

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – Police have taken one suspect into custody and were in pursuit of three others believed to have robbed a Hopkinsville, Kentucky automotive parts store. Two victims were injured in the robbery.

The incident happened after 4 p.m. Police said the four armed men walked into the locally-owned store and demanded money. All men were believed to have been armed.

At least two victims were pistol-whipped and sustained injuries.

The suspects fled the scene in a red Ford Focus.

Officers with the Oak Grove Police Department spotted the suspects' vehicle and began pursuit. The vehicle chase eventually led onto Interstate 24 heading towards Clarksville.

Several additional agencies were involved in the chase, including the Hopkinsville Police Department, Kentucky State Police, and Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The men pulled off the road at the Kentucky/Tennessee state line and fled on foot.

Officials said the suspects fired a couple rounds at Oak Grove officers. It was unknown if anyone was injured or if the officers returned fire.

One of the men was taken into custody. Police were searching the woods in the dark for the other three suspects.

Officials said a gun was recovered in a creek.

The suspects were considered armed and dangerous. A description of the suspects was not available. Officials said there were no distinguishing characteristics on the suspects.

Traffic on I-24 was backed up while police conducted their search and drivers worked to get around emergency vehicles.
