Posted: Updated:

GALLATIN, Tenn. – Tuesday marked one year since a flash fire at the Hoeganaes plant in Gallatin killed two people.

Investigators said explosive dust ignited early in the morning trapping two workers.  The men later died of their injuries.  Another flash fire and explosion in May killed three workers.  It was also triggered by explosive dust.

Investigations by the US Chemical Safety board concluded that both fires were preventable had Hoeganaes followed industry best-practice standards.
