CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- They spend their lives protecting our freedom and on Thursday two outstanding Fort Campbell soldiers were honored for going beyond the call of duty.
The city of Clarksville presented Scott Puckett and Joseph Demille with the Mayor's Certificate at Thursday night's city council meeting.
Both men took decisive action in the month of December, helping local law enforcement officers to capture two burglars.
On December 27, 2011, a little after midnight Joseph Demille caught three teenagers breaking into vehicles in his neighborhood. He took action and detained the men until Police arrived.
The very next night, December 28, 2011 around 2:15 am, Scott Puckett saw a man in his yard opening and closing the door to his vehicle. He confronted the man and chased him after the suspect fled the scene. The man fought with Puckett, dragging him across the yard. Puckett was able to subdue the suspect and hold him until Police arrived.
The man Puckett caught was later charged with four other vehicle burglaries and fraudulent use of a credit card.
"Its great to be here in such a great city that would honor a man like me for something that wasn't any reaction that I would expect out of anybody else it is amazing," said Joseph Demille.
