CLARKSVILLE,
Tenn. –
One person was killed and three others were injured in a head-on collision in
Clarksville on Friday morning.
The
two-car crash happened around 8 a.m. in the 1400 block of Madison Street near
Tanglewood Drive and Liberty Parkway.
Police
said a Dodge Durango driven by a
31-year-old man crossed the center
line and collided head-on with a GMC Sierra
driven by a 20-year-old man. The driver of the GMC truck died instantly. Both
the passenger of the GMC and the driver of the Dodge were transported by emergency
medical helicopter to Vanderbilt
Medical Center with critical injuries.
Officials
said the passenger of the GMC truck was a 19-year-old female, who sustained multiple injuries and was in extremely
critical condition. The driver of the Dodge truck was said to also have
serious injuries but was in stable condition.
Another passenger inside the Dodge was taken to local Gateway Medical
Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Police
said the initial investigation showed the people inside the GMC Sierra were not
wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
Madison Street, between Liberty Pkwy and the Crossland extension
was closed for approximately four hours.
The
names of the victims in the crash had not been released.
