MADISON, Tenn. – A man faces several charges after he allegedly shot two people and fired at officers during an overnight standoff in Madison.
It started around 12:30 a.m. Monday on Cheyenne Boulevard in Madison when a downstairs neighbor called 911 to report hearing gunshots and loud arguing coming from upstairs.
When police got on the scene, they forcefully entered the apartment, but soon exited after finding 53-year-old Charles Connor holding 49-year-old Kevin Dale Lowe and 36-year-old Fancy O'Neal Luckey at gunpoint.
Lowe told officers that he drove Luckey to the apartment, and later an argument broke out and shots were fired.
SWAT officers responded to the scene and established a perimeter. When another round of gunshots were heard around 1:45 a.m., the SWAT team entered the apartment.
Police said Connor opened fire at Officer Josh Hutcheson, who returned fire but did not hit anyone.
Luckey had been shot in the chest, and transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center. She was reportedly in critical but stable condition. Lowe was also taken to Vanderbilt for a gunshot wound to the leg, and was reported in stable condition
Connor was treated and released to police custody for an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to his foot.
Police said there was evidence of drug use inside the apartment.
Connor was charged with attempted homicide and aggravated assault.
Police said Connor has been arrested at least 40 times with convictions for assault, reckless endangerment with a motor vehicle, DUI, and unlawful weapon and drug possession.
